Welcome to the Big-drop.com skate map
Here you'll find descriptions of the best skate spots around Swansea. Click
on any of the buttons above to get a description.
DISCLAIMER: Skating at some of the spots is frowned upon by local security
and the police. This skate map is meant as a GUIDE ONLY, and Big Drop Surf
Shop is not responsible for any trouble you get yourself into!
Tycoch
Tycoch college is on the top of hill with a big car park at the back
- some roof gaps to try! Waxed curbs, set of steps, nice surface and no security
guards. This spot is pretty much overlooked, so give it a go!
4/10
Bishop Gore School
Schools out for summer!
Good spot - steps, benches, rails and banks. Surface is nice and no trouble
with security at all! Another fun spot for all ages.
8/10
University
The second most popular spot is for the skaters who love throwing themselves
down huge flights of stairs. The famous set is called the Taliesin - backside
flipper anyone? Seriously though I recomend you actually land your tricks
otherwise you will become one with the concrete. There are also some handrails
about, but they're nothing special.
9/10
Blackpill Lido
Before the petrol station at Blackpill, opposite a pub and on the sea-front.
No need for water-wings here, the lido is only full in the summer, making
this winter skating spot. Surface is okay, some obstacles and a tidy heighted
ledge.
4/10
Blackpill ramp
Really nice miniramp - all metal with a good smooth surface and 16 foot wide.
Much better!
Parc Tawe
Big shopping/cinema centre. Nothing here really, this spot is for learners.
It's nice and quiet, no hassle, great for practicing your ollie!
2/10
The cinema/superbowl comlex is right beside it - play with some balls and
watch some films! OK this is pretty much out of bounds for skaters, but the
surface is great and there are some bins to ollie.
3/10
Castle Gardens
Opposite main McDonald's. The most popular spot of them all, it has almost
everything a skater wants. Nice surface, steps, ledges and blocks. Watch out
for the cops though, they may seem a little heavy round the waist section
but they can run!
Castle is a good spot - but it's illegal to skate there (obviously). The best
times to catch it quiet are early evenings or sunday.
9/10
Evening Post Gap
EEEEEENING POST!!
Tasty gap identified by the cobbled surface that you fly over. Excellant run
up, make sure you ollie properly otherwise you'll end up with teeth like Rsther
Rantzen.
7/10 Go on....flip it!
Tescos
Big building where your mummy buys her shopping. Nice surface, couple of wooden
benches, big car park. Skate here on a sunday because of the security men
who are actually pretty cool and probably watch more episodes of Coronation
Street than Eastenders.
2/10
Leisure Centre
The council has taken away the metal ramps. As soon as we know more or when
they will be replaced we'll update this site. There is a concrete bowl under
construction which should be ready in September.
